Age Requirements
Instruction Permit
Teens can apply for an instruction permit at age 15 while enrolled in an approved driver education course.
Initial Driver's License
Drivers ages 16-17 can apply for a license after holding a permit for at least 9 months and completing all requirements.
Full Driver's License
Drivers 18 and older can apply for a full Illinois driver's license.

How To Get Your Illinois Driver’s License
